Luverne Splits Against Milroy Teams

Redbirds were victorious against Milroy Yankees 4-1 on Friday. The Redbirds secured their first 3 runs in the 4th inning with help from a Will Serie single who secured 2 RBIs.
Jake Haugen led things off on the mound for Luverne. The right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking none. Parker Schmitt stepped on the bump first for Milroy Yankees. He allowed five hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking four. Ethan Beyer threw three innings of no-run ball, no hit, and two strikeout ball while walking none.

Redbirds lost to Irish 16-13 at the Irish Yard on Sunday even though they once led by four runs. The Redbirds lost despite out-hitting Irish 18 to 12.
Casey Sehr led Luverne with five hits at the plate. Milroy opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. Redbirds took the lead in the top of the third. Ethan Beyer singled, scoring two runs, to give them the lead, 2-1. In the bottom of the third Anthony Dolan tripled, which knotted the game at 2. Luverne jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after a Carter Sehr single. The Redbirds scored 2 more times on an Irish error and an Ethan Beyer sac fly. The Irish tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a ground out by Moses Dolan, a walk by Tyler Maeyert, and a double by Derek Smith. Luverne once again took the lead in the top of the eighth after Ben Serie doubled, scoring one run to make it 10-9. Milroy turned the game on its head in the bottom of the eighth after they scored seven runs on five hits to take a 16-10 lead.
Ben Serie started the game for Luverne. He surrendered five hits and five runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out eight and walking four. Moses Dolan stepped on the hill first for the Irish. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking five.
Beyer caused a ruckus on Milroy, leading Luverne with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Skyler Wenninger, Cade Wenninger, Ben Serie, Carter Sehr, and Casey Sehr each collected multiple hits for the birds.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Skyler Wenninger led Luverne with two walks.
